A drone near a minister’s home led Guyana to warn of fines up to $1M or 2 years in prison for violations.
The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority has warned drone operators that violating national regulations will result in fines up to GY$1 million or up to two years in prison after a drone flew near the home of Minister Sarah Browne’s husband, causing distress.
The GCAA reiterated rules banning unauthorized flights over private property, within 150 meters of crowded areas, or within 100 meters of uncontrolled vehicles or structures, with a 50-meter buffer required near people.
The agency stressed strict enforcement, urging the public to report violations to police or its safety hotline.
