AIA’s 2026 study reveals deep cultural health stereotypes in Asia hinder wellbeing, prompting a new campaign and summit to promote healthier, inclusive attitudes.
AIA Group’s 2026 research identifies deep-rooted health stereotypes across Asia—such as the need for extreme discipline in fitness, the belief that health improvements require total lifestyle changes, and emotional suppression for respect—as major barriers to wellbeing.
Analyzing over 100 million online posts and surveying 2,100 people in five Asian markets, the study found these cultural norms delay health action, discourage help-seeking, and worsen outcomes.
In response, AIA launched a new phase of its Rethink Healthy campaign featuring three films on mental health, family pressure, and body image, along with a regional summit to promote inclusive health narratives.
The initiative supports AIA’s goal to inspire one billion people to live healthier, longer, and better lives by 2030.
