Adani Energy Solutions secured Japanese financing for a 6,000 MW HVDC transmission line from Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh, set for completion by 2029.
Adani Energy Solutions has secured long-term financing from a Japanese bank consortium, led by MUFG and SMBC, for a 950-kilometer, 6,000 MW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission project connecting Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh.
Scheduled for completion by 2029, the project will transport renewable energy from solar-rich regions to India’s national grid, enhancing grid stability and supporting the country’s clean energy transition.
It uses advanced HVDC technology from Hitachi in partnership with India’s BHEL and is part of Adani’s broader green energy platform.
The financing aligns with sustainable debt standards and reflects international confidence in India’s renewable infrastructure, bolstered by a BBB+ credit rating from Japan’s JCR.
The project strengthens India-Japan cooperation in clean energy and supports Mumbai’s existing 40% renewable power mix through Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited.
