UP’s sudden removal of age relaxation for constable exams sparks court review.
The Allahabad High Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government and Police Recruitment Board to explain their sudden withdrawal of a three-year age relaxation for Home Guard candidates in the state’s constable recruitment, which was initially granted on January 5, 2026, but rescinded on January 22 without notice.
The court, led by Justice Vikas Budhwar, scheduled a hearing for February 12, 2026, after a petition argued the reversal is arbitrary and violates fair recruitment principles, undermining candidates' legitimate expectations.
The case involves the recruitment of 32,679 constables.
