The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission canceled the Group II and Group II-A main examinations on February 8, 2026, due to a technical glitch that incorrectly assigned exam centers to about 600 candidates, causing overcrowding at three Chennai centers.
Around 1,000 candidates arrived at venues designed for only 300, disrupting the process.
The Group II Tamil eligibility test was also postponed.
The exams, meant to fill 828 government positions, had drawn over 4.2 lakh applicants, with 1,126 and 9,457 candidates qualifying for Group II and II-A respectively.
TNPSC said revised dates would be announced within two weeks, with updates to be sent via SMS and email 15 days in advance.
Opposition leaders criticized the delay, calling it evidence of administrative failure.
