Rob Lantz wins Prince Edward Island PC leadership, set to become premier.
Rob Lantz has been elected leader of Prince Edward Island’s Progressive Conservative Party, winning 53% of the vote in a leadership race held on February 7, 2026.
He defeated Mark Ledwell, securing 2,895 votes to Ledwell’s 2,542, in a contest with a record 87% turnout.
Lantz, who served as interim leader and premier since February 2025, will become the province’s next premier and prioritize energy infrastructure, including modernizing Maritime Electric and upgrading undersea power cables.
He emphasized unity and said an immediate election is not necessary, though it remains an option.
Ledwell praised the outcome and pledged support.
Lantz plans to celebrate with family and watch the Super Bowl before assuming office.
