Brendan Moore, a retired garda inspector, testified in the High Court that he cannot rule out injuring teacher Denise Callinan during an October 2019 incident at Millstreet Garda Station in Galway, despite having no memory of the event. Callinan, 28, from County Leitrim, claims her arm was twisted and broken during her arrest following a family altercation and is seeking compensation. Moore, a 17-year veteran and use of force instructor, said any restraint would have been minimal and appropriate given her emotional but controlled state. He acknowledged he could not deny accidentally lifting her arm too far behind her back due to his lack of recollection. Witness Stg Maire McGrath saw Moore restrain Callinan’s hands but could not confirm arm twisting, noting her view was blocked. The trial continues.
