Prayagraj will launch paid parking on 11 roads April 1, charging ₹15 for two-wheelers and ₹30 for four-wheelers, with towing for violations and a new underground lot planned.
The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation is launching designated parking zones on 11 major roads in the Civil Lines area starting April 1, charging ₹15 for two-wheelers and ₹30 for four-wheelers via a private management system.
Marked zones will enforce parking rules, with vehicles outside them subject to towing, and no-parking zones will remain on Nawab Yusuf Road and near the Allahabad High Court.
The move aims to ease congestion in a busy commercial and administrative area, with public toilets to be added nearby.
However, ongoing encroachments by vendors threaten the plan’s success.
Separately, the corporation is advancing plans for a ₹25 crore underground parking facility near Meena Bazaar, expected to hold over 200 cars and 400 two-wheelers, with commercial space above to be auctioned for funding.
