Over €14.5 million in severance, redundancy, and pension payments were made to former Irish politicians and staff after the 2024 general election, including €2.98 million in monthly termination payments and €3.022 million in pension lump sums. Staff received €7.45 million on average, with €1.26 million in statutory redundancy payments to 116 individuals. Nine rehired staff members repaid €192,875 in severance and €14,116 in redundancy, as required by rules mandating repayment if rehired within a year.
