A new, purpose-built facility in Dublin City offering homeless-specific healthcare and addiction treatment opens on February 8, 2026, with Taoiseach Micheal Martin attending.
Operated by Dublin Simon Community at Usher’s Island, the center began phased operations in October 2024, has a 100-bed capacity but currently runs at 75 due to funding limits.
It provides detox, stabilization, and intermediate care for individuals facing homelessness, addiction, health issues, and financial instability.
Funded with €38 million in capital from the Department of Housing and over €10 million annually from the Department of Health, the facility aims to support 1,200 to 1,400 adults yearly.
Its launch follows a record high of 16,734 people, including 5,188 children, accessing emergency accommodation in December 2025.
