£35M EU funds boost cross-border community projects in Ireland.
Nearly £35 million in EU funding, equivalent to 40 million euros, has been allocated to cross-community and cross-border projects in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland through the Peaceplus programme.
The funds, distributed via the Peaceplus Change Maker Fund, provide grants of up to €100,000 per project to support local initiatives in areas like sports, arts, and heritage.
The programme, managed by the SEUPB and co-funded by the EU, UK, Irish government, and Northern Ireland Executive, aims to strengthen relationships and empower smaller grassroots organizations.
Officials including Stormont’s Gordon Lyons and Dara Calleary praised the investment as vital for community building and long-term regional cohesion.
