Khartoum hosted its first Flower Festival in nearly three years, the largest horticulture event in the capital since the 2023 conflict began, featuring over 150 Sudanese companies displaying ornamental plants, fruit trees, and landscape designs.
Held at Marina Gardens near the Nile, the weeklong festival showcased species publicly for the first time, transforming war-damaged areas into vibrant displays of color and culture.
Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Marina Gardens, it symbolized resilience and aimed to revive local economies and public life.
The event followed the government’s return to the city in January and the Sudanese Armed Forces’ declaration of full control over Khartoum State in May 2025, as nearly 1.4 million people have returned.
While widespread damage and displacement remain, the festival offered a fleeting but meaningful sense of renewal and hope.
