Iranian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi has been sentenced to six years in prison by a Tehran court on charges of gathering and collusion, plus 1.5 years for propaganda, along with a two-year travel ban and exile to Khosf, according to her lawyer.
The sentence, handed down on February 8, 2026, follows her hunger strike and comes amid heightened repression.
Mohammadi, 53, a prominent women’s rights advocate and prisoner of conscience, has spent much of the past decade in prison, including time for her role in the 2022 Mahsa Amini protests.
Her health, compromised by cancer and heart issues, has raised international concern.
The verdict is not final and may be appealed.
Iran has not officially confirmed the sentence.
