A 43-year-old Grants Pass woman, Alicia Shelton, was shot and killed by police on February 8, 2026, after officers responded to 911 calls reporting her firing handguns in a roadway.
Police arrived around 12:30 p.m., ordered her to drop the weapon, and opened fire when she did not comply.
Shelton was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
No other injuries occurred.
The Oregon State Police are leading the investigation, with the officers involved placed on paid administrative leave.
