Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko defends Lesiba Malotana, her former head of department, despite the SIU identifying him as high-risk due to R1.6 million in suspicious ATM deposits tied to a R1.8 billion Tembisa Hospital looting case. Malotana was suspended by Premier Panyaza Lesufi after a lifestyle audit but was reinstated as a senior manager after a 60-day suspension ended, with no charges filed. The SIU has called for a forensic probe into his finances. Nkomo-Ralehoko claims Malotana was victimized and remains the department’s best leader, while allegations persist over her role in pushing out former HOD Dr Nomonde Nolutshungu, who denies withdrawing a R3.7 million lawsuit against the province.
