On February 7, 2026, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma distributed the first tranche of financial aid under the Chief Minister's Atmanirbhar Assam Abhiyan 2.0, providing ₹2 lakh to general category and ₹5 lakh to professionally trained young entrepreneurs across Kamrup and Kamrup Metropolitan districts.
The state-wide initiative aims to support 74,036 entrepreneurs with over ₹1,482 crore, including training and mentorship through appointed 'CM Fellows.'
The government reported a nearly 30-fold rise in MSME registrations since 2020, reaching over 12.7 lakh, and over ₹30,773 crore in loans disbursed to small entrepreneurs by March 2025.
Over 100,000 applications were received for the second phase, with plans to expand the program to help 1 million youth become self-reliant.
