Bryce Bennett, a 33-year-old Northern California skier and three-time Olympian, finished 13th in the men’s downhill at the Milan Cortina Olympics, marking his final Olympic race.
He reached a top speed of 85.5 mph and recorded a time of 1:53:45, the second-fastest among American skiers, behind teammate Kyle Negomir’s 10th-place finish and ahead of Ryan Cochran-Siegle’s 18th.
Switzerland’s Franjo von Allmen won gold, Italy’s Giovanni Franzoni took silver, and Dominik Paris claimed bronze.
Bennett, who became a father in spring 2025, was emotional at the finish line, where his wife and newborn daughter Kate watched, and shared that a text from his wife moved him to tears.
He expressed pride in competing to the best of his ability, emphasizing the personal significance of the Games beyond medals.
Bennett, a native of Tahoe City and Palisades Tahoe alum, will race in the Super-G on February 11.
