The UK's Department for Work and Pensions is urging around 800,000 people, especially those aged 75 and over, to check if they qualify for a free TV licence ahead of a price rise to £180 from April 1, 2026.
Those receiving Pension Credit are entitled to the free licence, along with additional benefits like help with housing costs, council tax, NHS care, heating bills, and mail redirection.
Many eligible individuals have not applied for the benefit, which is worth about £80 weekly.
