Rep. Matt Windschitl has suspended his campaign for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, citing recent developments and endorsing Republican Chris McGowan, who received President Trump’s backing.
McGowan outpaced Windschitl in fundraising, raising $136,275 in the final quarter of 2025 and ending with $354,164 in cash on hand, compared to Windschitl’s $67,425 raised and $46,811 remaining.
The open seat, vacated by Rep. Randy Feenstra’s gubernatorial run, is part of a broader wave of competitive races in Iowa, including open Senate and 2nd District seats.
In the 1st District, Democrat Christina Bohannan led fundraising with $1.14 million raised and $2.3 million in cash on hand, positioning her as a top contender against Republican incumbent Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
