Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip Economic Region (BCPPER) on February 7, 2026, a major development plan aimed at transforming the region into a $500 billion economic hub by 2047.
The initiative, developed by NITI Aayog, will focus on urban integration, infrastructure, innovation, and industry across 11,892 square kilometers.
It includes over 80 projects in sectors like biotechnology, IT, textiles, and logistics, supported by 30 policy reforms and a new governance structure.
The Union Budget 2026–27 allocated ₹5,000 crore for the plan, which is the fifth City Economic Region under the national urban-led growth strategy.
