A Nebraska teacher was convicted of abusing students without physical injury, including applying hand sanitizer and bleach solution to children.
Hilary Everett, a 44-year-old former special education teacher at Beattie Elementary School in Lincoln, Nebraska, was found guilty on February 6, 2026, of felony child abuse without physical injury.
The verdict followed allegations from August 2024 to February 2025 involving three young boys, including applying hand sanitizer to a nonverbal child’s mouth, spraying a bleach-water solution on their hands, slapping a student, and gripping children’s ears.
Reports came from staff and led to an investigation by Lincoln Police and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Everett, arrested March 18, 2025, faces up to three years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both, and up to 18 months of post-release supervision.
