Keswick Launch Co. seeks approval for a permanent ferry facility at Derwentwater to sustain its 90-year-old service and tourism, with minimal environmental impact.
The Keswick Launch Company has applied to the Lake District National Park Authority for a permanent ferry maintenance facility at Isthmus Bay on Derwentwater, replacing aging temporary structures.
The proposed 530-square-metre steel-framed building, featuring a non-reflective cladding and double gable roof, would include storage, workshop, and office space, extending 40.5 metres from the shoreline.
The company says the upgrade is vital for preserving its nearly 90-year-old ferry service and supporting tourism, with minimal visual impact and plans to offset tree removal by planting 46 native trees at Crow Park.
The site remains accessible via public footpaths.
