Joseph Scott Nelson, 23, of Jamestown, was charged with a Class B felony for allegedly luring a minor by computer after communicating with a Bismarck Police detective posing as a 14-year-old girl via Messenger for months.
He was arrested on February 5, 2026, at the Alfred Dickey Library where he was to meet the individual.
Nelson admitted to using methamphetamine and said he believed he was helping the person emotionally, denying any intent to engage in sexual conduct.
He also faces two Class A misdemeanor charges related to drug paraphernalia and meth use.
He pleaded not guilty and remains in jail with a $5,000 bond.
