Jake Sanderson, 23, named to Team USA’s 2026 Winter Olympics roster, fulfills lifelong dream after strong season and prior Olympic tryout performance.
Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson has been named to Team USA’s 23-man roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, marking his return to the Games after missing much of the 2022 Beijing Olympics due to illness and injury. The 23-year-old, who recorded 11 goals and 35 assists in 57 games this season, called the selection an emotional fulfillment of a lifelong dream. He previously impressed during the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off as a last-minute replacement, showcasing strong defensive play. Though NHL players will miss the opening ceremonies, they will join the Olympic Village and participate in the full Olympic experience. Sanderson, who grew up in the U.S. national development program, views the opportunity as a culmination of years of hard work and is focused on winning gold.
