Ireland launches ETS in 45 special schools, embedding therapists to support students with special needs.
The Education Therapy Service (ETS), a government initiative launched in 2026, has begun rolling out in select special schools across Ireland, including locations in Louth, Longford, Westmeath, and Kildare.
Delivered by the National Council for Special Education, the ETS embeds speech and language and occupational therapists directly in schools to provide timely, coordinated support for children with special educational needs.
The first phase targets 45 schools nationwide, with recruitment for 90 therapists completed.
The program aims to improve student outcomes, reduce family burdens, and strengthen inclusive education through cross-departmental collaboration.
