The European Union has proposed its 20th sanctions package against Russia, targeting Russian oil exports by banning EU maritime services—such as shipping, insurance, and port access—for Russian crude, effectively undermining the G7 price cap.
The move would expand the shadow fleet blacklist by 43 vessels, bringing the total to 640, and extend restrictions to LNG tankers and icebreakers.
The package also includes new import bans on metals, chemicals, critical minerals, ammonia, rubber, tractors, and cybersecurity services, while targeting 20 Russian regional banks and crypto firms.
