The Dodgers traded pitcher Anthony Banda for catcher Ben Rortvedt, who returns after being claimed off waivers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers designated left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda for assignment to claim catcher Ben Rortvedt off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds.
Banda, 32, was a key part of the Dodgers' bullpen during their back-to-back World Series titles but struggled in the 2023 Fall Classic with an 18.00 ERA in four appearances.
Over two seasons with Los Angeles, he posted an 8-3 record and 3.14 ERA in 119 appearances.
Rortvedt, 28, previously played for the Dodgers in 2025 after Will Smith’s injury, starting the first four playoff games and going 3-for-7 with one RBI.
The Dodgers had signed him to a $1.25 million contract for 2026 before he was claimed by Cincinnati and later designated for assignment after they signed Eugenio Suarez.
Rortvedt has a career .190 batting average with nine home runs and 52 RBIs in 138 games across four teams.
