Addis Ababa welcomed nearly 700,000 international tourists in the first half of Ethiopia’s 2025 fiscal year, a 15% increase from the previous year, generating about $1 billion in tourism revenue.
The city also exceeded its domestic tourism target with 4.9 million visitors.
Officials attribute the growth to upgraded infrastructure, cultural and religious festivals, expanded sports and health tourism, and a 50% rise in international events, including nearly 150 major conferences and gatherings.
