The move, effective March 2026, makes Lidl the highest-paying UK supermarket, ahead of the April minimum wage increase to £12.71.
The retailer also doubled paid paternity leave to four weeks, with plans to extend it to eight weeks after five years.
Lidl, now Britain’s sixth-largest grocery chain, cited a 10% Christmas sales surge and plans to open 19 new stores, creating up to 640 jobs, as part of its expansion.
