A labor strike at Capstone Copper’s Chilean mine ended after union ratification of a new three-year deal, restoring full operations.
Capstone Copper announced on February 6, 2026, that Union #2 at its Mantoverde mine in Chile ratified a new three-year labor agreement, ending a strike that began January 2 and had cut production to about 55% of normal levels.
The deal, which follows agreements with all four unions at the site, allows the company to restore full operations.
The mine, producing about 0.4% of global copper output, is owned 70% by Capstone and 30% by Mitsubishi Materials.
While the strike’s resolution is positive, Capstone’s stock fell as much as 3.9% to A$15.430.
