Cleveland pitcher Emmanuel Clase faces expanded allegations of pitch manipulation in 48 games, beyond the initial nine charged.
Cleveland Guardians pitcher Emmanuel Clase is accused of manipulating pitches in at least 48 games over a 26-month period, far exceeding the nine games initially charged in his November indictment. The allegations, based on a court document filed by teammate Luis Ortiz’s attorney, suggest Clase coordinated with Dominican Republic-based bettors who profited from rigged pitches. Ortiz, also indicted on fraud and conspiracy charges, is accused of involvement in only two games starting in June 2025. Both pitchers were placed on paid leave in July 2025, have pleaded not guilty, and are scheduled to stand trial on May 4, 2026. Clase, 27, had a 1.88 ERA and 182 saves in six seasons with Cleveland.
