Christopher Moynihan, a 35-year-old January 6 Capitol rioter pardoned by former President Donald Trump in January 2025, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor harassment charge for threatening to kill House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries in a text message. The message, sent in October, included threats to kill Jeffries, calling him a "terrorist" and stating he must be eliminated. Moynihan, who had previously served nearly two years in prison for his role in the Capitol attack, agreed to three years of probation and will be sentenced in April. Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi called the threats a criminal act undermining democracy.
