Canada's Supreme Court will hear a case over Air Canada's pricing practices, accused of misleading passengers by hiding fees.
The Supreme Court of Canada has agreed to hear a class-action lawsuit alleging Air Canada misled passengers by not including all taxes and fees in advertised ticket prices, violating Quebec’s Consumer Protection Act.
The case, initiated by consumer advocate Michael Silas and a consumer group, stems from a 2010 ticket purchase where he paid $124 more than the displayed fare.
A Quebec Court of Appeal previously ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, ordering over $10 million in damages and criticizing Air Canada for ignoring the law despite federal oversight of air travel.
Both sides have been granted permission to appeal, though no hearing date has been set.
The case focuses on pricing transparency and consumer rights.
