A 12-year-old Nebraska boy, starved and abused, was rescued after being found critically ill and is now recovering in state custody.
A 12-year-old boy in Lincoln, Nebraska, was found critically ill with a body temperature of 80 degrees, weighing just 47 pounds, and suffering from septic shock and pneumonia after months of alleged abuse, starvation, and neglect. Court documents reveal that his legal guardian, Angela Lowe, 46, and her husband, Joseph Lowe, 44, along with their daughter Makenzie Watkins, 20, were aware of the abuse but failed to report it. The boy, locked in a room and denied food and medical care, was airlifted to Omaha’s Children’s Hospital and is now recovering. All three have been charged with serious crimes, are out on bond, and face court dates in March. The child has been placed in state custody.
