Twins Isaac and Isobelle Baterson, Indigenous students, made history as first twins and first in family to lead Hillvue Public School in 2026.
At Hillvue Public School in Moree, New South Wales, twins Isaac and Isobelle Baterson have made history as the first twins and first Indigenous students in their family to be elected to leadership roles, with Isaac named school captain and Isobelle one of two vice-captains for 2026.
Elected by peers and staff, they join classmates Aleyah Nean and Payton Langbaker in a leadership team recognized for quiet strength and cultural connection.
The group, which began school with executive principal Jayne Johnson, will lead assemblies, represent the school at events like Anzac Day, and advocate for students.
Isaac, passionate about sports, and Isobelle, drawn to art, guide their younger brother Iluka as he starts kindergarten.
The team will be formally inducted in a ceremony next Friday.
