Toby Keith, who died in 2024, will be posthumously honored for preserving American West culture at the 2026 Western Heritage Awards.
Toby Keith will be posthumously honored with the Special Directors’ Award at the 65th Western Heritage Awards on April 10–11, 2026, in Oklahoma City, recognizing his role in preserving the culture and values of the American West.
The late country singer, who died on February 5, 2024, at age 62 after a battle with stomach cancer, was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, and celebrated the Western way of life through his music.
His family expressed gratitude for the tribute.
Other 2026 honorees include Ed Harris, Kenny Rogers, Arthur Nicholas, Luster Bayless, Richard Oliver, and Rex Tillerson.
Keith is survived by his wife Tricia Covel, children, and grandchildren.
