Police in Collombatti, northern New South Wales, arrested a 39-year-old man during a months-long drug investigation, uncovering a makeshift zoo with a 1.3-meter saltwater crocodile, a venomous cobra, and dozens of other exotic animals, along with 52 hydroponic cannabis plants, 11kg of cannabis leaf worth $85,000, and an illegal rifle.
The animals, many protected species, were removed and placed in care by a joint team of police, the RSPCA, and environmental agencies.
The man faces multiple charges, including commercial cannabis cultivation, dealing in protected animals, and illegal firearm possession, was denied bail, and is set to appear in court.
