A judge dismissed a lawsuit against Texas’s $3 billion dementia fund, upholding voter-approved Proposition 14, but the fund remains unactivated due to Governor Abbott’s pending certification.
A Travis County judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging Texas’s $3 billion dementia research fund, ruled valid by voters in November 2025, stating the plaintiffs lacked standing.
The fund, known as Proposition 14, remains inactive because Governor Greg Abbott has not certified the election amid ongoing legal disputes.
Plaintiffs argued voting machines in 251 counties were improperly tested, but state officials and the Secretary of State maintain the machines were properly certified.
Though the court rejected the challenge, an appeal is possible, potentially delaying implementation.
A new law to block similar lawsuits did not take effect in time to stop this case.
