Jared Stewart, 54, convicted of child sexual abuse on Crow Reservation, faces life in prison.
Jared Cordell Stewart, 54, of Crow Agency, was found guilty by a federal jury of abusive sexual contact with a minor on the Crow Indian Reservation.
The charges stem from allegations of repeated abuse starting when the victim was seven or eight, with new details emerging in a 2021 interview after an initial denial in 2020.
Witnesses, including other minors, testified to Stewart entering the victim’s room at night, displaying favoritism, and possessing inappropriate photos.
The defendant, a musician and former tribal legislator, faces up to life in prison, a $250,000 fine, and years of supervised release.
Sentencing is set for June 4, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters.
