Former IWK Health CEO Tracy Kitch sentenced to 9 months in jail for $30K+ credit card abuse, fraud conviction upheld on appeal.
A former CEO of Nova Scotia’s IWK Health Centre, Tracy Kitch, was sentenced to nine months in jail for using her corporate credit card for over $30,000 in personal expenses, including family trips to Toronto, during her 2014–2017 tenure.
The judge called her actions greedy and an abuse of power, noting she never intended to repay the money.
Though Kitch claimed she didn’t knowingly defraud the public and cited family relocation challenges, the court found her guilty after a conviction overturned on appeal.
She was also given 24 months of probation and a 10-year ban from financial oversight roles.
A legal appeal is pending.
