Former Hudson’s Bay workers seek court-approved funds after HBC’s 2025 collapse shuttered 96 stores.
Former Hudson’s Bay employees are seeking court approval for a hardship fund offering up to $9,600 in one-time payments and $2,500 in emergency aid, funded by a $9.9 million Zellers trust, a $1.6 million HBC reserve, and $250,000 in cash.
They also request a lump-sum payment for about 188 former workers whose long-term disability benefits were suspended in June 2025, aiming to provide financial stability until age 65.
The motion, filed February 4, 2026, supports workers who lost income, severance, and benefits after HBC’s 2025 collapse, which shuttered 96 stores and left only eight employees.
The Ontario Superior Court is expected to rule soon.
