Dutch teacher David Kuiper posted €30,000 bail for Ali Ghasemi Mazidi, accused in a €60M cocaine plot tied to a 2024 Ireland-Denmark operation.
Dutch teacher David Kuiper sold his house to post €30,000 in bail surety for Ali Ghasemi Mazidi, a 50-year-old Netherlands resident accused of conspiring to import nearly €60 million in cocaine into Ireland in early 2024.
The case, tied to a March 2024 operation in west Cork involving a rigid inflatable boat and seized nautical gear, led to 840 kg of cocaine being found washed ashore in Denmark.
Mazidi, one of 10 men charged, previously received bail on a €1,000 own bond.
The State challenged Kuiper’s surety as implausible, citing his Dutch residence and lack of knowledge about the charges, while Kuiper testified he trusts Mazidi despite avoiding discussions about the case.
The court continues to assess the bail conditions.
