Two UK universities merge Aug. 1, 2026, forming a new "super-university" to address financial challenges and strengthen regional impact.
The University of Greenwich and University of Kent have merged to form the London and South East University Group, set to launch on August 1, 2026, becoming the UK’s first “super-university.” The new entity, approved by the Office for Students and Department for Education, will operate under a single leadership and board while preserving each institution’s identity, campuses, and student experiences.
