Nigerian poultry farmers oppose a government-backed poultry project with Turkish investors, fearing it will harm local producers already struggling.
Poultry farmers in Katsina State, Nigeria, are opposing the state government’s plan to partner with Turkish investors on a large-scale poultry hatchery, egg, and feed facility, fearing it will harm local producers already struggling with high feed costs, limited credit, unstable markets, and economic pressures.

While the government affirmed its goal to boost productivity and jobs, a Ministry of Agriculture representative acknowledged farmer concerns and said input would be considered in the project’s development.
