A 40-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot by three Lexington police officers during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon near Alumni Drive and Yellowstone Parkway, according to Kentucky State Police.
Officers responded to a license plate alert linking the suspect to outstanding felony warrants from North Carolina, including kidnapping and assault.
During the stop, officers fired their weapons, striking the suspect, who was taken to Albert B. Chandler Hospital.
No officers were injured, and a firearm was recovered from the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing, with all three officers on administrative assignment.
Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward.
