King County ramps up DUI patrols for Super Bowl weekend to honor a trooper killed by an impaired driver.
King County has launched increased DUI patrols through Super Bowl weekend (February 6–8) as part of the "Night of 1,000 Stars" campaign, targeting speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving. The effort, coordinated by the King County Target Zero Coalition and funded by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, honors 1,000 traffic enforcement officers statewide and specifically commemorates Washington State Patrol Trooper Christopher Gadd, killed in March 2024 by an impaired driver. Similar enforcement will occur in Snohomish County on February 6. Authorities urge the public to report erratic driving by calling 911.
