Henkel to buy Netherlands' Stahl for €2.1B to boost specialty coatings in fashion, packaging, and auto sectors.
Henkel has agreed to acquire Stahl, a Netherlands-based specialty coatings company, for €2.1 billion, including debt, in a deal announced on February 4, 2026.
The acquisition, subject to regulatory approval, aims to expand Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business into specialty coatings for flexible materials used in fashion, packaging, and automotive industries.
Stahl, majority-owned by French private equity firm Wendel, reported adjusted sales of €725 million in 2025.
The deal includes the sale of stakes by minority shareholders BASF and Clariant.
Henkel, known for brands like Loctite and Persil, said the purchase supports its strategy for purposeful growth and strengthens its position in high-potential markets.
