Ghana’s top prosecutor faces criticism for low case prosecutions despite high funding and security.
Ghana’s Parliament Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for low prosecution rates despite receiving ¢250 million annually and high-level security, including bulletproof vehicles.
Speaking on February 3, 2026, he questioned the value of these resources given only about seven to eight cases prosecuted yearly, though recent reports show improved asset recovery.
While supporting the OSP’s anti-corruption mission, Dafeamekpor stressed the need for measurable results and transparency, expressing patience but warning of increased scrutiny if performance does not improve.
