Ghana's Majority Chief Whip accuses EC of manipulating gazette dates to block NDC's election challenge, citing inconsistent seat counts and false corrections.
Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Ghana’s Majority Chief Whip, accused the Electoral Commission of deliberately manipulating gazette dates in the Kpandai parliamentary dispute to mislead the Supreme Court.
He claimed the NDC’s challenge, filed December 23 based on a letter from EC Chair Jean Mensa, was wrongly deemed late due to a December 24 gazette.
Dafeamekpor highlighted inconsistencies, including a reported 278 seats exceeding the constitutional 276, and criticized the EC for later denying a January 6 correction it had issued.
He argued the shifting narratives were intentional, undermining legal rights to contest election results, and called for investigations by Parliament or the CID, vowing to raise the issue formally.
