Former FCI Jesup guard Ashley Brown pleaded guilty to bribery and money laundering for smuggling contraband using Cash App.
Ashley Brown, a former federal prison guard at FCI Jesup in Georgia, pleaded guilty to 24 counts of bribery and 16 counts of money laundering for accepting over $80,000 in bribes via Cash App to smuggle drugs, cell phones, cigarettes, and stamps into the prison during spring and summer 2022. She used fake accounts to funnel money to her personal account. Brown was the last of nine defendants—herself and seven inmates—to plead guilty in the case, which concluded a federal investigation into widespread prison corruption. All defendants have now been adjudicated.
